Fresh coffee, delightful prose, and an attentive audience. What more could you want from a reading event? The first annual Sapphire Summer Reading Series, hosted by Flyleaf Journal and Bird's Thumb, attracted local literary enthusiasts to the cozy art gallery at Bru Chicago. The reading showcased literature from both emerging and acclaimed Chicago authors. As Mort Castle, one of the distinguished readers at the event remarked in an email afterwards, the reading was "just a damned good go around."
